The members of the Little Egg Harbor Police Department are committed to providing the highest levels of service through community partnerships which build trust, reduce crime, maintain order through effective and impartial law enforcement, protect the constitutional rights of all people, and enhance the quality of life in our community.

Little Egg Harbor Police Partners with Ocean County Special Needs Registry
THE OCEAN COUNTY SPECIAL NEEDS REGISTRY The Ocean County Special Needs Registry is a voluntary service open to all citizens with disabilities who reside, attend school or are employed in Ocean County. The registry was created to help police officers and other emergency service personnel to better assist residents with special needs in the event of an emergency by providing those first responders with vital information regarding a registrant’s disability, emergency contact information, a physical description and current photograph of the registrant. Our History
From as early as the late 1600’s, protection for the rural inhabitants of Little Egg Harbor and its surrounding areas was dependent upon watchmen, constables and later the county sheriff and his deputies. In 1921 The New Jersey State Police were created, and assumed the primary law enforcement duties of the then rural township. This continued through the late 1960’s although, there are some records that indicate that Little Egg Harbor intermittently employed part-time special police officers.
